On Suspisions

As the eating away of rotten wood by termites
There is an infestation of thoughts circulating my rooftop
Soaking in
Dampening my sturdy frame built around your image
Devouring the dying parts of your infected structure

While both in the need for shelter
Deciding to build with the scraps of our particle souls
Taking the rusted, warped nails of our past
Fastening the skeleton in place
Tacking and bonding all pieces that could be found
And when we thought it finally time to move in
The down pouring of thoughts invaded and destroyed
No longer holding the nails
Before the first picture could be hung
Our walls began to separate
Its roof caving in
Yet we lived to consistently repair
Until discovering
We never poured a foundation
